Benefits of Vitamin C Anti- Aging Serum

Why Vitamin C?

Most people know about the powerful immune supportive benefits of Vitamin C, but did you know Vitamin C is my secret weapon when it comes to healthy glowing skin? Ascorbic Acid, commonly known as Vitamin C, is one of the most powerful antioxidants that can help protect your skin from both environmental and sun damages. It also prevents premature aging and wrinkles caused by the harsh UV rays we are exposed to  each and every day. Vitamin C also reduces free radicals that often contribute to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Using a Vitamin C serum can not only reduces the common damages seen on our skin but can actually help improve the natural firmness and elasticity of our skin as well.

Which Vitamin C?

When it comes to choosing the right Vitamin C serum it is important to ensure that you get the purest form available. L- Ascorbic Acid is the purest form of Vitamin C and is the most stable form that allows your skin to fully absorb all the key benefits of Vitamin C. It is also important to make sure when you do buy your Vitamin C Serum, that it is kept in a cool, dark place as it will oxidize (break down) if exposed to too much air or light.

Vitamin C serums will also indicate the percentage of Vitamin C actually in the bottle. This is important to note as too much of a good thing can actually be damaging to certain skin types. This is why if you have sensitive skin, you should look for serums that contain closer to 5-10% of Vitamin C, whereas those with more dry skin should look for serums containing closer to 20% of Vitamin C.

My Favorites Brands:

I like to remind my patients that each patient may need a slightly different serum as each skin type is slightly different and may respond better to certain formulations. Below is a list of some of my favorite Vitamin C Serums:
